Rennes is the gateway to Brittany, and is easily accessible thanks to a particularly well-developed road network (toll-free dual carriageways link Rennes with Nantes, Brest, Lorient, and Saint-Brieuc, whilst there is a motorway between Rennes and Paris.) Under construction is the 'route des Estuaires' (road of the Estuaries) dual carriageway, following the route Calais - Le Havre - Caen - Rennes - Nantes - Bordeaux - Hendaye.
